Horned owl - by Bruce

Seems our morning walks always produce something along the way. Most of the time we don't have a camera with us so capturing what we see is difficult.
Not so this morning however. As we approached the area where we had seen the Great Horned Owl. We saw an owl fly off down the mountain and figured we had missed our chance again because we took the camera along this morning.
Imagine our surprise when we looked up in the tree and there was a mama owl with a baby owl. The one that flew off was probably the male of the family. At first it just looked like a very fat owl perched on the limb.
However, on closer inspection it was the adult owl and and the juvenile was plastered so close to it they looked like one owl except for those four eyes looking at us. They are extremely hard to see because they blend in with their environment so well. I took 4 photos and this is the one that came out best, plus I had it on full zoom. Had they been closer I am sure I could have gotten a better photo. We thought we had one owl, and in reality have three. They look just like the one posted by the Bayfield Bunch on the blog site Mike gave me to look at. Thanks Mike, I'm sorry the little guy didn't make it though.
