Confusion - by Bruce

May 19th and three inches of fresh snow that is sticking to the trees, our solar clothes dryer and the bird house. Confusion reign's here in the mountains. The trees don't know whether to produce leaves or not. The birds are confused, especially the hummingbirds who are fragile anyway. The ground squirrels and chipmunks are wondering if they completely missed summer and hibernated to late. We have taken the snow shovels out, put them away, taken them out again so many times it is hard to remember where exactly they are now.
Yesterday we were out in shirt sleeves cutting firewood or for my politically correct friends 'combustible cellulose' for next winter but little did we know it would be here already. All nature here in the mountains is confused. Normally we take the hummingbird feeders in at night so as not to attract bears, but this year it is to keep them from freezing.
So if we seem some what disoriented it is because we have all lost track of the seasons.

I think the weather has been strange all over the nation this year and I thank God that neither your family or ours lives in the tornado prone areas, but still! Things are truly strange. Two days ago we had the heater on;today it almost hit 90! And yesterday some heavy thunderstorms, that we almost never have, rolled through and swamped some towns and roads in the northern part of the state. I feel so sorry for the hummingbirds. Hope everything gets back to normal soon. One of the first things I remember knowing about Carol was that she helped rescue hummingbirds. Love you guys. Hope the seasons get themselves back on track!

D, Bruce is the birdier rescuer! He holds them in his hands until he knows they are ready to take off. I know that they appreciate his TLC........... :)+
