Purging Old Habits By Sakoieta

It is interesting how society has changed so much to where everyone wants things done fast and quickly. There is a pill for this and a pill for that. An exercise program that claims fast results in no time at all. But real effort at changing things takes time. The old people knew that and followed it. If we let down our guard, old habits are there waiting at the door to reclaim their space in our lives. These habits will sneak back in so innocently and seemingly so familiar that we seldom will expect what teeth they have. The truth is once we decide to change something or work at change we can’t expect it to happen in one fell swoop or immediately. What has come back into our lives by such tiny degrees of invasion must be edged out the same way. The fact that our ability to change comes in small steps does not minimize a real or great commitment to change. Little by little, we reform our habits making sure we do not leave space for another bad habit to move in and claim space within us. We have all kinds of help when we feel that the effort may be to great. Friends can be there, family can be, personal belief and faith. All these add up to positive supports to give us the strength, determination and energy to follow through.

That is what makes diet fads so popular. People use this diet or that diet to lose weight than revert to the same old pre diet habits and put it right back on again. Good topic...
