Putting Dead Trees To Good Use

Above is a photo of Bruce from Estes Park who is a retired professor from Xavier University. He was delightful to talk to and came with a group to harvest firewood for the local charity. You can read all about putting dead trees to good use by going to  http://www.motherearthnews.com/homesteading-and-livestock/creative-disposal-of-dead-trees-zbcz1606.aspx

If your area doesn't have a program like this it sure is worthy to consider.

Terrific program! We had an informal one here in Wisconsin a few years ago. Of course, it's also important to leave dead trees (aka snags) up whenever possible, for the benefits to wildlife. This might be useful for those looking for guidance: http://dnr.wi.gov/files/pdf/pubs/wm/wm0244.pdf
