I grew up appreciating such ingenuity with a father who could make some amazing things out of what others saw as nothing worth keeping…I do believe my son inherited that ability which he must now use to figure out how to get to the asteroids to explore them…….can you believe?! If we couldn’t make it or trade someone for it then as a last resort we would buy it. :)Brucehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00263413130171705126noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-178865360448684774.post-24272064383130681842014-01-18T20:38:12.979-07:002014-01-18T20:38:12.979-07:00Yup; thanks!Yup; thanks!Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09425300672067525434noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-178865360448684774.post-65835134081235766482014-01-18T17:26:24.826-07:002014-01-18T17:26:24.826-07:00Welcome to the neighborhood David. I let the wood air dry and briefly commented on that aspect in my other article in Mother Earth News. http://www.motherearthnews.com/homesteading-and-livestock/tree-to-table-zbcz1312.aspx

I only cut dead standing trees and they are pretty dry already if they aren't to old. So it takes no time to dry lumber by simply using the air dry method. I have some wood I have milled several years old that has no warp or wind. Dead standing makes really beautiful lumber. Hope that answers your question. Out of curiosity, do you have to dry the wood at any point in the process to prevent future issues (bowing/warping), or is that not an issue due to the downed-tree source?Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09425300672067525434noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-178865360448684774.post-43307965486692965882014-01-18T15:00:30.555-07:002014-01-18T15:00:30.555-07:00Comment by Skip: You did a great job!
