Ancient Civilization - By Sakoieta'

Sakoieta Wakataionni

Our people are part of a unique civilization. We have had people from the beginning of time study us to learn about our ways, customs, life, living, languages, etc. Many archeologists, anthropologists and other groups still continue to come to study us to learn about our civilization. I still struggle with the reality that the world will look at other civilizations and work so hard to preserve what they find and what they study. Yet in our case, with our civilization, there are still all those calls, actions, policies and movements from the government, groups, and Canadian and American citizens aimed at trying to make us leave it behind to become something else, instead of actively working to protect it, honor it and make sure as an ancient civilization that is still existing today, it needs to thrive and flourish for the betterment of the world and humankind.

Learning from an ancient civilization is worth nothing if we insist on tampering with it or changing it to modern standards. If we can't grasp the wisdom and knowledge of a civililazition that has, in spite of our worst efforts to change it, survived this long we need to stop tampering and co-exist in peace.
