The first doctor said it was from a tick bite and put me on antibiotics early and the disease never fully manifested. For some strange reason our local veterinary people deny there is Lyme disease in Colorado and medical doctors follow the same position.
Funny thing is when I was waiting for my Rx to be filled another man waiting said his neighbor got bitten by a tick and had Lyme disease and was now confined to a wheel chair. Got bit in Colorado! I'm not sure why doctors both for human and pets deny that we have it in our state because to me it makes no sense. they could say it is rare but a few cases have been reported but instead they deny it exists here.
My friends dog is undergoing treatment for being bite by a tick but no actual label other than that. He is on strong medication and takes 6 pills a day for the next 30 days. I think veterinary and medical people should level with us citizens and so we can take proper precautions. When Lyme disease or "tick disease" gets in the blood stream it is very serious. It would be nice if they warned us ahead of time regardless of what they want to call it so we could protect those we love and ourselves. Better to be aware and prevent than try to accomplish a cure.
