Early Winter???

 

We suspected it would be an early start to winter this year as the song birds left early and the insect world seemed to indicate they were ready much earlier. We were unsure if it were the severe drought or an early winter. It looks like an early winter with the first storm arriving. Up to 12" of snow predicted depending on what weather source you refer to. Less than one inch so far...

I hope the potato plant makes it but I don't think it will as the temp's have been below freezing for several hours now. I covered it last night with a thick towel but I think I'll be digging out what potato's that may have developed soon.
The fence around the wood stove is to keep the dogs from getting bumped and brushing up against it. Don't want them to get burned. The front swings open to feed the store.
