Winter Birds

We feed the birds in the winter when life in a burn scar area makes their food scarce. This year we seem to have more than usual birds. We have Stellar Jays, Grey Jays, Clarks Nutcracker, Mountain Chickadees, Nuthatches, Pigmy Nuthatches, Finches, Juncos and Hairy Woodpeckers with an occasional different species. We usually go through around 120 pounds of sun flower seeds a winter. We also give them suet which the larger birds break apart quickly. We provide unsalted peanuts for the Jays.
