Mountain Springs

These photos reveal what many are not aware of when it comes to underground springs in the mountain. They come forth in spring and we have had them running for several weeks now. Fortunately years ago we discovered this particular spring and I put a 4" PVC pipe in that directs the water across the road. We have others that actually surface in our driveway and they cut a trench and wash some of the gravel away. They are coming up still and while the water is very cold as it comes from deep in the mountain it is a hazard we have to deal with each year... There is no pre-planning for it because each year it is different. Some years it is a trickle and others it flows heavy like this year. Some years the springs flow for up to a month or longer and other years for a few days. It is just one of those circumstances we have learned to deal with. I'm sure it also feeds the aquifer that flows underground and we draw our well water from so it is not all bad.
