Dog Games:

For months I have watched Lucy and Klaus play together and couldn't quite figure out what the game rules were. I finally think I have it figured out. Their rules - their game. One will take a toy (they have plenty) and play with it for a few moments and act disinterested. The other will try to get it away by making us believe they need to go outside. We get up and they head for the back door and the one without the toy darts back and grabs it.  Or they will act disinterested and when the dog with the toy isn't paying close attention they will sneak in and steal the toy and take it to the back of the house. They have various ways to get the toy and run around with it.

Then the other will wait for their chance and zoom in and get the toy. Neither ever gets upset or possessive  of the toy, they just find a way to sneak it away from the other one. Sometimes the one without the toy will get another toy and try to lure the one with the toy far enough away so that they can zip in and grab it and run to the other end of the house. It is all about the sneaking away the toy. It is their game of good natured fun with each other.

They are both good natured about it and it is fun to watch them play so well together. They have several variants of the game but the basic game is played this way.  The rules stay the same but the method changes daily.
