Not much good came from being sheltered in place due to the covid pandemic. One favorable thing that immediately comes to mind is our relationship with our canine family members. For those who have fur family members, being home from work, school or activities was good for our fur family. They loved having the rest of their pack with them 24/7. What was unfortunate however were the shelters were mostly shut down or adoptions were made more difficult.
Volunteering For Animal Rescue:
For several years I volunteered at an animal rescue. I investigated, evaluated and processed applications for adoption. This blog is written from the perspective of the rescue. Being a volunteer taught me a lot about people and the dogs they wanted to adopt. I quickly learned that most people consider themselves great adopters for a dog. As I would unravel their application and check on them, facts sometimes surfaced to the contrary. Most prospective adopters were good candidates as adopters but not all who applied..
.Applicants Checked in Detail:
We required references and who their veterinarian was. We would check with the references and their veterinarian. Generally contact with those people would lead to more contacts and when we were through checking applicants we would have a good idea if they were really good adopters or not.
