It seems each winter presents its own problems and getting ready for it sneaks up on me. Maybe because I'm getting older it just takes longer. For example: when I get down on my knees I better have a plan for getting back up. I think the snow thrower on the tractor is usually the last thing needed to get ready.
Enough firewood on hand: check. Implements stored in shed: check. Bikes put away: check, Enough ice melt: check. Driveway clear of hazards: check. Driveway markers in place: check. Walk behind snow throwers ready: check. Front end loader stored and covered: check. Sub frame on tractor installed: check. Enough diesel on hand: check. Snow thrower on tractor: check. Tractor tire chains on: check. Snow shovels out and ready: check. Boards on deck down: check. Deck chairs in and stored: check. Snow fence up: check. Reserve pile of firewood available: check. Medical and dental for us and the fur family: check. Etc., Etc.....
Our winters can last up to 7+ months and on average we get 265" of snow each winter. Thankfully that 265" of snow is spaced out and doesn't all come at once. Now time for any cement work, staining of structures, cutting trees or gathering brush and other outside tasks has passed and now we need to get fully prepared and focused on winter.
I think we are as ready as we can be for the snow season to begin. We already have snow on the ground so let the fun begin.
