These little pests can carry more diseases for humans and pets than most any other insect or animal. Mosquitoes only live for a week and it is myth that both sexes bite. The female bites and collects blood so the larvae can feed when born. A female can lay her eggs in as little as a teaspoon of water. The male does not bite. The male does the buzz however, in search for a female. So when you are in your tent and hear a buzzing sound it will be the non biting male. When you don't hear any buzzing that is when you need to look out as the females don't buzz.
