Bird Rehabilitation:

Every once and awhile we have a bird fly into the sliding glass doors.  this happened far more often when we lived in Colorado so I have had some experience in getting them back to normal. I have been known to  carry a  stunned bird around for half a day or longer. This little tufted titmouse took a real good shot to the window and I got him stable and he finally flew off  after learning a lesson.

When I would talk to him he would turn his/her head and look at me. His sensibility finally came back and he was able to fly off and do his normal activity. I have found that these little guys seem to accept being held and gently stroked along the back. I have not lost a bird in many years and hope I don't in the future. Talking to them in in a calm voice seems to relax them and help them come around.
