Our 26+years living in the [Sangre de Cristo mountains -blood of Christ -of S. Colorado gives me some nostalgia this time of year. In particular the snow which was a real chore to move. The snow flakes floating down, the total silence when I would go outside, the moon reflecting off millions of fresh snowflakes was enough to take your breath away. The cold was unlike the cold here in NC inasmuch as it was such low humidity that the cold did not seem as cold because of the low humidity.
The warmth in the cabin due to the wood stove radiating heat, the wood interior that gave an ambiance with the Christmas tree in the loft with all its lights made a moment in time that is deeply imprinted in my brain. I miss those moments but what I don't miss is the 264" on average of snow that had to be cleared maybe more than once due to drifting. This time of year I tend to focus on what was and miss it.
