Disappearing Ground Squirrel

This is really funny because there is a hole in this stump that must go down to a ground squirrel nest.  I have seen a ground squirrel pop its head up from this hole and the squirrel is driving the deer nuts trying to figure out what is going on. I have several trail camera shots of deer pondering this stump.  Here is another deer that is checking out the hole in the stump.  I couldn't have set the trail camera in a better position to catch the reaction of the deer.
Reminds me of the time I was hunting wild hogs in the Apalachicola  National Forest and used a hollow cypress base to hunt from.  It had a hole in the side that I could stick my head out of and a deer came along and was drinking from a creek right next to the tree. I stuck my head out and she was so curious that she had to come over and sniff me.  She was totally puzzled how a man's head was apparently growing out of that tree. Watching her reaction was not only funny but interesting. Having her come right up and sniff my face was even more interesting. I held still and would close first one eye and then the other and she was enthralled with this human head that kept changing which eye was open. That is what this guy is doing, puzzled about how that ground squirrel pop's up from this tree stump and how he can then disappear so suddenly.
