Back in the day before electricity was readily available and before there was such a thing as a food processor women would use a hand grinder to make various and sundry foods. I inherited this gem from Bruce's Mom and each year at this time make cranberry relish using it. It brings me fond memories of "Namie" as she was called and the end result is always a hit. This type of grinder can still be purchased at www.lehmans.com
My recipe:
Grind together a little at a time:
2 bags of cranberries
2 large navel oranges cut in wedges
Place in large container.
Add:
2 cups of sugar and blend well
This is best when it sits in the frig for a week or so and freezes well.
