Check out my new posting on how we co-exist with wild animals peacefully and have done so for 16 plus years. I have lost count of the number of times we have had encounters with various predators but by remaining calm we have consistently had safe encounters. Some as close as 6-8" and some a few feet away. We are forever cautious because you never know when you are going to come up against an aggressive or very hungry predator. In the final analysis these animals are far more predictable, respectful, wary and easier to be around than many two legged species we have encountered that tend to migrate to the mountains from the big city.
In the larger populated areas their unsavory habits can easily be hid or disguised. When they are in a small community they tend to show up for who they are. We have never had a predator pretend to be one thing when in fact it was something totally different. The predator is what it is and if you can read its body language and know exactly what you are either up against or its intentions.
