Winter

It is still winter in the mountains. We received 12" of snow over night and that followed about 1" of slush. This is very heavy snow which I call heart attack snow because it will do you in if you work to fast shoveling it. It continues to snow and this is the worst winter we have had in our 24 winters here.
Branches are falling off trees, trees are falling and the ground is very muddy under this heavy snow. The snow has  been destructive inasmuch as it has broken some of the 4X4'at the vase around our fence. The weight has broken two of the three posts on the fence to our outdoor cook stove. It cracked a roof vent and our driveway is a mess. There is going to be a lot of repair to be done when the snow is done.
Last year we received 194" total and this year we have 304" so far but it has not stopped yet. Yesterday the ground was bare and no snow to be found and today we have winter once again. The birds, animals and my garden are confused.

Wow! That is so much snow! I look forward to reading each of your posts and reflect on how different our climates are. Here in Texas we have also had an unusually cool winter and spring. Earlier this year we had the record breaking cold snap that made national headlines but even now we are scarcely getting out of the 80's in mid-May. This is unusual for us. But no one complains about 70 degree weather! Sorry Old Man Winter seems to have become a resident in Forbes Park. I hope you get a lush and beautiful summer that repays your patience soon!
