Antlion

I find the insect world interesting and I remember these bugs from the time I resided in Florida. The antlion pits were everywhere and if I waited long enough I would see an insect fall into the cone and be unable to get out. The antlion would dart out and grab it and pull it into the cone. The larva digs the cone shape and eats the content of its victims. Then it throws the shell of its victim out of the cone.  It builds a cocoon out of sand and silk and then merges into an adult. The larva feeds voraciously because the adult does not eat so what it eats as a larva must sustain it in adulthood.

Insects are interesting and unique. Yesterday the tarantula hawk and today the antlion. Just two interesting species. Actually I have known some humans over the years that possess these traits.
