Shedding Tools:

Dogs with an undercoat tend to shed two times a year and several times in-between. They need to be brushed regularly to keep the loose under fur from getting impacted which can hurt them. It also needs to sometimes be cut out as it can not be combed out. We have one German Shedder, Lucy, that is brushed very often and our other dog Klaus needs almost daily brushing to keep his coat clean.

That under fur keeps them cool in the summer and warm in the winter. It is very important to keep them well groomed for their safety and comfort. We also have a vacuum that is made by Shark just for dog hair. These are things to know when adopting a dog. Both our fur family members are large (85# and 95#) so there is a lot of under fur to comb out. The birds and ground squirrels love it for their nests so it doesn't go to waste.

Adopting rescue dogs is very rewarding but keeping them groomed should go into the consideration when adopting. I would not do one thing different with our fur family. The rewards far exceed the upkeep.
