Dog Issues:

Dogs can have the same issues as people have. Our dogs have had numerous medical issues just like people have. We had one dog (Bozwell) that had allergies that had him itching to where he would end up with hot spots. Our vet at that time prescribed various remedies that were largely ineffective. He was allergic to dust mites and I found a carpet shampoo that took care of the dust mites but he was constantly itching. 

I was part of a large canine network because I was working for a German Shepherd rescue so I put his issues on line. One of my friends said her dog had the same issues and she had read that a large chicken producer had gone from giving their chickens antibiotics to giving them oregano on their food. It had cleared up the allergies that his chickens had.  My friends dog had allergies and she started oregano and he stopped itching the next day. A little oregano sprinkled on the food worked for her. I started doing the same with Bozwell and his itching stopped. 

Another friend in the network suggested Neem oil for the hot spots and it cleared up his raw hot spots quickly. This may not work for all dogs but it did work for us. It didn't do it for Bozwell the next day but his itching got better in a few days. Bozwell lived to 13 years old and didn't have further issues with allergies. Our vet was not impressed but it worked and Boswell's agony was over. Sometimes it pays to look outside the box.
