Lyme Disease:

When we were living in the high country of Colorado I was out helping a group we allowed to cut firewood off our property, when I got a tick bite that left a bulls eye circle on my arm. I didn't notice it for several days and when I went to get treatment the doctor advised me that there was no Lyme Disease in Colorado. I finally got a doctor who at least acknowledged it did exist and prescribed antibiotics for it.

When I went to the pharmacy to get the Rx filled a man who was also waiting struck up a conversation with me. He asked what I was there for - I explained  I got a tick bite and it looked like Lyme Disease.  He went on to say his neighbor got a tick bite too and had Lyme Disease. Now she now has arthritis so bad she can't walk to her mailbox at the end of her driveway.  Like me she was told there was no Lyme Disease in Colorado. The first problem as I see it is getting medical staff to even acknowledge the disease exists in some area's.

If you think you have encountered an infected tick I suggest you get medical help as soon as possible and not accept any comments that it isn't in  your area. Next I suggest you Google Lyme Disease, as there is abundant information available regarding the disease.

When we first moved to Colorado we had a grey wolf come up and look into our house through the storm door.  Others in our neighborhood had seen wolves as well. When I called the game warden to report it I was told there were no wolves in Colorado.  I knew what I saw and found out years later that if a state employee acknowledged there were wolves in Colorado that the state would be required to adopt a plan to manage them. Maybe it was the same with Lyme Disease.
