All Dogs Are Created Equal:

Of the 10 dogs we have had since we lived here 8 have been German Shepherds. While we prefer German Shepherd Dogs we will consider different breeds and even mixed breeds depending on circumstances. We had seen Klaus at the shelter before and he captured our hearts but we had just adopted Taylor so we didn't pursue Klaus. Taylor had a stroke and took a major turn for the worse and stopped eating and drinking and we had to sadly say goodbye to him.

Lucy was so depressed over his passing that after 1 1/2 weeks of her funk we once again looked into Klaus. We have never adopted so quickly after losing a dog but this seemed something that we needed to do. He was advertised as a Belgium Shepherd but we could tell he was something else. Once we met him and Lucy liked him the adoption was affirmed.

When you are predisposed to German Shepherds and totally understand the breed it is hard to adopt something else. Klaus was a different situation than what we faced before. As it turns out he is the perfect boy and it seems that he was tailor made for our family and we couldn't be happier with him and he is exceptionally sweet and loving.

Going outside the German Shepherd breed was not easy but then I remembered the story in the Bible where Peter  had gone up to the rooftop to pray and was hungry and saw what looked like a great sheet with all kinds of in it were all kinds of four footed animals and creepy things and birds of the air. Peter was told to eat but he refused as the animals were unclean by his standards. A voice told him "what God has cleansed he must not call common" I realized that it was the same with mixed breed and other breed dogs.

We did not hesitate and adopted him on the spot and quickly realized that Klaus was a superior fur family member and were delighted that he had previously tweaked out hearts. Some things are just meant to be or maybe divine inspired and Klaus is one of those instances. Klaus is clearly a gift to us and Lucy from God and this was meant to be. He is all the things we desire in a fur family member and more. Thanks be to God!!!!!
