A Penny Saved Is A Penny Earned:

I was a little surprised that Amazon did not call to make sure we were okay. We haven't ordered for several days. They probably knew anyway as we have an Echo dot and Alexa would keep them informed.  When you live remotely like we do it is actually cheaper to order on line than drive to Alamosa for supplies. Amazon delivers to our P.O. Box where we can pick it up every week or two depending on how immediately we need the item.

When we drive to town the cost of the fuel alone is  at least  $27.00, round trip. So getting items from Amazon and Chewy is far cheaper than to make the drive. Our trips to Alamosa usually combine several stops to help justify the trip and a routine trip takes us around 4-5 hours. We go in for mail every 7-10 days so picking up packages at the post office is a much shorter and time consuming trip.

With the economy and the escalating prices it only makes sense to order on line - plus the cost is usually cheaper than in town and the time saved is used to work around the homestead.
